Wuzi Community Urban Regeneration

Conceptual Planning Exercise

Professional Practice | UPDIS Individual research project, 2015, Shenzhen, China

Developed in 1980s, Wuzi community located in the heart of Luohu District, the earliest opened and developed district in Shenzhen city. The community is rich in public facilities with the adjacency of regional transportation, commercial areas, education resources, as well as green public infrastructure. However due to decades of poor-planned incremental infill of urban land and outdated community typology, connection on human scale to the adjacent resources across the community is highly interrupted. The design proposed a community regeneration plan for the purpose of revitalizing the community resources by connecting, adding, reshaping current urban elements.
